Virgo: August 22 – September 21
Element: Earth
Mode: Mutable
Ruling Planet: Mercury, the Planet of Communication
Where You’ll Find Them: Organizing their closet, setting up a lunch date weeks in advance, studying in a cozy library.
What They Avoid: Messy environments, gossip, nosy people.
Virgo, the sixth sign of the zodiac, is symbolized by the Virgin, but it doesn’t mean that Virgo’s a goody two shoes as some might think. Instead, it symbolizes the purist mindset of the earthy Virgo’s soul. Virgo is the sign that wants to strip down, take away all the fluff, and go back to the basics. The minimalist of the zodiac, Virgo seeks to live and exist in a clean, clear, stress-free environment. The ironic part of that desire is that Virgos often stress themselves out by trying to restore order to their lives. Virgo is often focused on the small details of life that everyone else misses. They find peace in routine and structure, and they love feeling efficient, useful and in control.
Professionally, Virgos work well alone as well as in a team, and they often get the job done better than everyone else (but they still beat themselves up about how they could have done an even better job). Virgo is a perfectionist, and while this can lead to them creating phenomenal works of art, it can also lead to them paralyzing themselves and never putting their work out there out of fear of failure or ridicule. Virgos can suffer from a low self-esteem due to the super high standards they place on themselves. This can also lead to nervousness consuming them, which is why Virgo would benefit from introducing meditation into their daily routine, as well as gentle exercise and frequent time spent outdoors, simply breathing and letting go.
As friends, Virgos may at first come off as cold or unfeeling, when in reality they are just cautious of who they let into their intimate circle. If you become one of those lucky people, you’ll see the wild, untamed Virgo come out. This side of Virgo is unpredictable and exciting. Virgo isn’t always a gentle soul, watching quietly from the background. They can be reckless and fearless, going out all night and talking to new people left and right. They just have to be in a certain mood and around the right people in order to activate that side. Ultimately, Virgo seeks friends who won’t judge them and whom they can feel comfortable letting loose around.
In love, Virgos are often depicted as being prudes, but once again, it’s just a self-defense mechanism. In fact, Virgo can be one of the most sexual signs of the zodiac when they merge with the right person. Virgo is much more about fostering a deep intellectual connection with someone first and then falling in love with their body next. Once that happens, you can unlock a very sensual and romantic side of Virgo. Still, Virgo will intellectualize their feelings and put their emotions through a filter before expressing themselves, and that may sometimes make their partner feel like Virgo isn’t as emotionally attached to the relationship. That’s not necessarily the case — it’s just that Virgo has a specific way of showing love, mostly through the actions they do. They pay attention to the small stuff their lover needs, and while they can be nitpicked and critical of their partner, it always comes from a place of love and respect. Virgo is all about self and mutual improvement, and they just want a lover to embark on a journey of evolution with.

Leo: July 22 – August 21
Element: Fire
Mode: Fixed
Ruler: The Sun
Where You’ll Find Them: At an audition, taking a selfie, or building an empire
What They Avoid: Waiting in line, dealing with paperwork, following orders
Leo, the fifth sign of the zodiac, is all about spreading love, light, and glamor in the world. Ruled by the Sun, Leos are the center of attention, even if they don’t try to be. There’s something about Leo that screams “look at me!”, and it makes everyone stop and stare in awe and fascination. Leo’s symbol is the lion, and they have that natural royal aura about them that makes them natural leaders, inspiring us all to be our brightest, strongest selves. If it’s one thing that’s clear about Leo, it’s that they’re full of passion, power and ambition. They dim their light for absolutely no one.
Leo thrives in a career where they have the freedom to do as they please. Leos make great presidents, CEO’s, entrepreneurs, celebrities, artists, stylists, and creative directors. They are also quite adept politicians, skilled at the art of persuasion. Leos come off as super confident, even if it’s a front, and this often helps them get exactly where they need to be at rocket speed. Don’t get it twisted though — Leo knows that it takes hard work and dedication to get to the top of the professional ladder, and they’re willing to put in the work. It’s just that their patience will run thin if they’re dealing with people who aren’t as driven as they are. Leo’s professional team must really be supportive of their endeavors, or else they’ll search for something new.
Leo friends are the life of the party. They’re the ones you call when you’re feeling down and need a night on the town to lift your spirits. Leo does have a huge ego and can be quite prideful at times, though, and it can be difficult for Leo to admit when they’re wrong. But ultimately, despite their sometimes self-centered nature, Leos have big hearts and are extremely generous to those they love — sometimes to a fault. Leos must guard against frenemies or people who have a hidden agenda. Luckily, since Leo has such a positive outlook on life, they tend to attract more genuine supporters rather than secret haters. However, if they do attract negativity, Leo must be sure that their own shadow emotions of deep competitiveness and jealousy aren’t manifesting in their lives.
When it comes to love, Leo goes all out when pursuing someone who interests them. They love the chase, but they also love to be chased. Leo doesn’t have to play hard to get — everyone knows they are hard to get, and that’s because everyone wants them. Leo should avoid getting too cocky or confident though, because sometimes that can also cause problems in relationships if their significant other feels like they’re not enough for Leo. Leo’s standards are royally high, and they’re constantly seeking to be in a power couple dynamic with someone who can keep them on their toes. Deeply sexual and passionate, loving a Leo is the ultimate whirlwind romance. Wild and spontaneous, Leo likes to call the shots both in and out of the bedroom. Get ready for the ride.

Cancer: June 21 – July 21
Element: Water
Mode: Cardinal
Ruler: The Moon
Where You’ll Find Them: Walking down the beach, cooking soul food, snuggling in bed
What They Avoid: Confrontation, deadlines, and overly aggressive situations
Cancer, the fourth sign of the zodiac, is quite possibly the most sensitive — but you wouldn’t outwardly know it. Cancer’s symbol is The Crab, and this explains their tendency to hide in their shell whenever the outward world gets too tough to handle. As a Water sign ruled by the Moon, Cancer is deeply emotional, and easily absorbs the vibes in their environment. Cancer is full of compassion for the world, particularly the underprivileged, the needy, children, animals, and the oppressed. There is a nostalgic element to Cancer that can lead to them living in the past and having trouble letting go.
Professionally, Cancer is a great collaborator and team-player. However, sometimes they remain in the background for far too long, out of fear of stepping into the spotlight. Cancers make incredible artists, but sometimes they just keep their craft to themselves rather than letting their art be shared with the world. If Cancer is able to overcome such shyness, their art can heal the world. Cancer’s nurturing spirit also makes them great therapists, teachers, interior designers, cooks, and spiritual healers. There’s something about Cancer that is full of wisdom, making them old souls. That’s why people may joke around and call them the grandparents of the zodiac, even in their youth.
Cancer loves to take care of those they love, so having a Cancer as a friend is a true blessing. What Cancer must learn, however, is to establish healthy boundaries and not let their generosity or kindness be taken advantage of. Sometimes Cancer gives away too much of their energy, and if it’s not reciprocated it can feel very painful. Instead of directly letting the person know about that pain, Cancer may resort to passive-aggressive behavior, and that only exacerbates the problem. Cancer therefore will benefit from being more honest and assertive in friendships and relationships.
As a lover, while Cancer may be very slow to trust and open up to you, they are definitely some of the biggest believers in love. Many Cancers dream of having a family and being married to their soulmate, and this can lead to them becoming deeply invested in the relationships they pursue, to the point of sometimes being clingy or possessive of their lover. This can sometimes scare the lover away, but at other times it reassures their lover of Cancer’s love for them. Either way, Cancer would benefit from directing all of that love and attention they offer others back to themselves first and foremost. Cancer’s greatest lesson is to love themselves first, and in doing so, they’re able to extend the purest type of love into the lives of those around them. Cancer’s love is deeply transformative.

Gemini: May 21 – June 20
Element: Air
Mode: Mutable
Ruling Planet: Mercury, the Planet of Communication
Where You’ll Find Them: Launching a podcast, couch surfing abroad, or learning how to code
What They Avoid: Overly emotional situations, routines, clingy people
Gemini is the third sign of the zodiac — the sign of the Twins. When you’re talking about a Gemini, you’re in essence talking about two people, merged in one. Gemini is all about duality and multiplicity, which is why they are like a chameleon, always changing. This can be both frustrating and fascinating to outsiders, but to Gemini, it’s all they’ve ever known. It’s who they are. Gemini is ruled by Mercury, making them social butterflies and eternally curious students who view the world as their classroom. Gemini loves to read, talk, write and communicate in as many ways as possible, with a huge variety of people and cultures. Not all Geminis are outspoken, but they all have a constant stream of thoughts running through their minds.
For that reason, Gemini can be extremely restless, emotionally, intellectually and physically. It’s important for Gemini to have a creative and physical outlet for their outpour of thoughts and ideas. It can be a challenge for Gemini to stick to one profession or job — they tend to have more than one job at once or switch into new jobs pretty frequently. That’s because Gemini is the jack-of-all-trades who tends to be good at everything they try. Gemini’s mission is to stick with something long enough to be better than just “good” at it. Their free-spirited nature can make them very hard to tie down, and Geminis seek freedom and space to breathe and create above all else.
As friends, Gemini is the type of person who will introduce you to new ways of life and take you to places you’ve never been before. Gemini is very open to meeting new people, and this can sometimes make them appear to be superficial or two-faced because they flitter like a butterfly from one social group to another. But for Gemini, variety is the spice of life, and boredom is their ultimate fear. Still, even if Gemini is quite popular, they still can be selective when it comes to whom they view as their best friends.
Friendship is often Geminis strongest point, so when it comes to romance and relationships, it takes more effort on their end. That’s because Geminis aren’t naturally comfortable with vulnerability, emotions or sensitivity. Geminis can be known for being the flirts of the zodiac, playing the field when they’re single (and sometimes even when coupled), and shying away from commitment. But keep in mind that Gemini is the sign of The Twins, meaning that there’s another side to them that’s not frequently talked about by astrologers. Deep down, Gemini seeks to meet their twin flame and soulmate — their other half. That’s why Geminis may flutter around during the earlier parts of their dating life. But once a Gemini falls in love, they do have the ability to remain committed, as long as they don’t feel like they’re being played or taken for granted. With Gemini you never know for sure what you’re going to get, but it’s all part of their charm.

Taurus: April 20 – May 20
Element: Earth
Mode: Fixed
Ruling Planet: Venus, the Planet of Love & Beauty
Where You’ll Find Them: Planting an epic garden, reading a novel, searching for food somewhere
What They Avoid: Small talk, unnecessary outings, and unexpected change
Taurus, the second sign of the zodiac, is symbolized by The Bull. True to its symbol, Taurus is stubborn and inflexible, but also very loyal and self-aware. Taurus is all about security and practicality. They’re the type of person who can remain grounded and solution-oriented. Taurus is also prone to comfort and indulgence, though, since they’re ruled by Venus. Since Taurus is a sign of extremes, they vacillate between feeling very motivated and productive to feeling sluggish or complacent. As an Earth sign, Taurus benefits from spending time in nature, connecting with the world around them rather than being too drawn into the material world.
Taurus is very independent and loves their solitude. Professionally, they’d like a career that allows them to call the shots from behind-the-scenes. Taurus prefers working on their own rather than in a big group, and they don’t like having to take direction from others. Many Taurus will end up owning their own business or working from home for this reason. Taurus is also a natural artist, and sometimes fails to fully tap into that side of them because they don’t think it will be as financially secure. The ironic part of that is, if Taurus invests themselves whole-heartedly in what they’re truly passionate about, the money and success often follows suit.
Taurus must learn to control their anger, because while it takes them a while to really get angry, when they do, it’s not pretty. Taurus tends to hold a lot of their true selves in, and this can make them hard to get to know. But once a Taurus lets you into their life, you see a side of them they rarely show anyone else. Stay on a Taurus’ good side and you’ll have a loyal friend for life. Taurus cares deeply about their friends and family and will go above and beyond for their well-being, but you have to be deserving of that energy first. Taurus has exceptionally high standards and expectations.
Being ruled by Venus makes Taurus one of the most sensual, romantic signs of the zodiac. But you wouldn’t necessarily know that upon first glance because there is a deeply guarded side to Taurus. They are cautious of letting new people into their lives, so it will take a very patient and special person to unlock the key to Taurus’ heart and have them let down their guard. Taurus commits to those they love in an intense, often possessive way, so getting in a relationship with a Taurus is not for the faint of heart. You’re either in or you’re out with Taurus — no in-between.

Aries: March 21 – April 19
Element: Fire
Mode: Cardinal
Ruling Planet: Mars, the Planet of Action
Where You’ll Find Them: Owning a start-up, winning an athletic competition, and/or skydiving
What They Avoid: Diving into the emotional depths or having to explain themselves
Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, and they make their mark by letting action and passion take the lead in all that they do. Wherever Aries goes, they do with a sense of purpose and ambition. They are the zodiac’s natural leaders and warriors — always seeking to be #1 and excel. As a Fire Sign, Aries learns through direct experience better than anything else. They have little patience for people or situations that are overly emotional or draining. They’d rather get lost in the fire than have to be overwhelmed by feelings. But eventually, Aries has to face their own emotions, so it’s better done sooner rather than later.
Aries thrives in a career that lets them call the shots and be in positions of leadership. For this reason, many Aries make amazing entrepreneurs. Because Aries is all about action, they also succeed in physical activities such as team sports. They have so much energy, being ruled by Mars the Planet of Action, and if they don’t find a great outlet for it, they can become restless, angry or impulsive. Luckily, when Aries does get angry (they have a short temper), they aren’t known for holding a grudge like some of the other zodiac signs. They live so much more in the now than most signs, so they know that holding on to emotions only ways them down. Still, it’s best not to mess with Aries — they’re fierce competitors and they can intimidate you into submission if they so chose.
As friends, Aries will be the leader of the pack, always finding a new adventure or thrill to experience. Aries can be competitive in friendship though, and this can sometimes cause tension in their relationships. For the most part, it’s all in good fun, and as long as Aries avoids being overly self-centered, they’ll attract fulfilling and exciting friendships. Aries does bore easily though, so they seek people who can keep up with their passionate and fiery nature.
As lovers, Aries will at first avoid admitting to their deeper emotions. They crush hard and fall in love easily, but it’s not always for the long-haul. Aries has high standards and is often desired, so it takes them some time to commit. But when an Aries falls in love, they transform into an utter romantic, wooing their lover and treating them differently than everyone else. Just watch out for that infamous Aries temper — it can come out of nowhere and be completely destructive. Aries tends to forgive and forget more easily than the other signs, though, and this helps them make amends in love — unless you’ve crossed them one too many times. Then the Aries will move on, without looking back, leaving you in the dust.
